I started going through the boxes of art waiting to go up on the wall, because I was looking for the missing part of my barbell.
I didn't find it, but I started hanging some pictures.
& then I hung some more pictures
& then I hung all of the pictures
Not what I was expecting to do with my day, but I'm not mad about it
When my Chesterfield arrives, it'll go roughly where the yellow armchair is now
I'll also paint part or all of that wall at some point.
May paint the kitchen area a different colour, or put wallpaper or wooden panelling up, or something else.
This gallery arrangement isn't intended to be the finished look. But I'm happy with it for now.
I think maybe it's too much wall space? Feeling like I want to break that long wall up into various sections & treat each section differently
@lookitmychicken That's looking really good already, but the great thing about having your own space is that you can move things around and see what different configurations you like best, and it's fun to try different ways and see what you like about each one.
(Also, please know that I am vicariously enjoying you claiming and decorating your home, and it's giving me motivation to get things done at my house too - we can both make our homes nice!)
@TheOtherDibbler yay for you making your space nice too!
@lookitmychicken wow! it looks really good! I love how they are all different shapes and sizes but it all comes together
@cinnamonandpancakes
It's the gallery wall equivalent of an outfit that looks like you got dressed in the dark.
(Which is absolutely what I was aiming for, this is not a dig at myself!)
@lookitmychicken it's lots of fun! (but then I love looking a bit like I got dressed in the dark... )
@lookitmychicken looks stunning!
@lookitmychicken it looks so well arranged and planned out! Nice work.
@JillsJoy there is no plan, it's pretty random
I know some people plan out gallery wall placement in advance, make paper templates, & carefully measure everything
I just add one picture at a time, try to keep straight lines level, & try to avoid any long unbroken gaps
It actually feels a bit too much this morning! My bed is at one end of this space and the view first thing this morning was ... busy?
I normally prefer my sleeping space to feel more peaceful
