Aish my plans for the evening have had to change.
I stayed out too long on a quick trip to a cafe that turned into a much longer exploratory adventure.
Now I'm tired and whiny and still kind of cold despite being in my cosy warm bed for about 2 hours.
I've done nothing to make the balcony prettier, like I'd intended.
New plan:
- investigate the new Korean fried chicken place downstairs that looks like it's in the process of opening
- if it's actually opening tonight, get fried chicken!
- light some candles on the balcony
- huddle under a blanket & eat dinner (chicken?!) on balcony
- read tarot for myself (maybe)
- early bedtime
Korean chicken place: not open
In fact, I think it might have been there all along but it's never been open since I moved into the building
The only difference today is that the lights were on and there were people inside unpacking new kitchen equipment
So it's either being reopened or converted into something new
Anyway I went with HSP instead, always a good choice
Normally I get the small size from the place nearest me & it's too small. So this time I got large and it's ridiculously large uhoh
Ooh I can see people fucking in one of the apartments over the road! That's a first since I moved into this apartment.
Happy winter solstice to meeee
Well. These are *not* the sort of cards I was expecting to see tonight. Um.
(It's been years since I've done a full Celtic Cross spread so I'm having to look up some of the position meanings to refresh my memory. I normally just do a basic 3-card spread.)
Anyway um I think I have a good understanding of what this means and it's a little bit terrifying and I'm not going to explain it. It's too much, I'm not ready, etc etc.
Those of you familiar with tarot & Celtic Cross spread might be able to hazard a guess. Feel free to post your guesses and will chuckle nervously and not meet anyone's eyes.
The deck is Tarot of the Old Path. It's a wiccan-themed deck that I bought at the Theosophical Bookshop over 30 years ago. https://mjstarot.com/tarot-of-the-old-path/
@lookitmychicken I’m plenty rusty myself and completely out of your context but there’s lots of choosing and crossroads there I assume? (Maybe some masculine figures of note if that’s how you interpret the courts?) The ten of cups, Lovers and Temperance seem to be good news for me but again no context. We’ll be cheering for you!
@citro I often think a reading can be better when you don't know the context. You don't have as many preconceived ideas.
Are you familiar with Celtic Cross? The 3 cards you mentioned are in the 3 main 'outcome' positions so yeah that's a really strong message I wasn't expecting.
I get choices from a couple of the influencing cards but don't see that at the core.
@lookitmychicken Yeah! It’s my favorite spread and those stood out exactly because of their position! I’m just always a bit reluctant to assume I kinda took it to be a pretty strong “You’ve been pushing forward and even if things might look a bit shakey at points (over the chariot and foundation 5 of swords - and even then it’s less that they’re shakey as much as being in a place of taking a step back for a choice/decision afterwards) but you definitely got this” sort of message.
@citro I tend to think of the middle vertical as "what I *think* has happened/is happening/will happen" and the horizontal as "what *actually* happened/is happening/will happen" ... Which is an oversimplification & not everyone reads them that way I know
@citro or possibly the vertical has more of a flavor of stuff that I'm aware of, & the horizontal is stuff I'm not aware of or didn't see coming
@lookitmychicken Ooooh! That’s really cool! And yeah I have a few things like those with the Celtic cross too (and then I completely forget when/where I picked them up from ) I have it so ingrained that sometimes I review my books/notes and I’m a bit left like “wait this is only passingly similar to how I do it” but if the reading resonates I end up leaving it be.
@citro yiss yiss I think the method is honestly not that important as long as you have something that works for you & that you don't have to think about too hard. If I try to get too rational about a reading, it goes awry. Mostly just turn the judging part of the brain off and let the intuition be in charge.
@lookitmychicken Without looking at any other responses, and making my best guess at some of the small fuzzy text: you're fine, so get out of your own way and let yourself be happy, even (especially) if it feels scary.
@zsc ... that's pretty much what I thought too.
and also ahaha it's just a random assortment of cards, it doesn't really mean anything, i don't actually believe in fortune telling, lalalalala, etc
